Tiger Maple generally comes from the red maple, found in Eastern parts of the US, like Vermont. Tiger maple can also be known as curly or flamed maple. This kind of pattern in the wood is created as the tree grows and the wood fibers somehow become disfigured or distorted. Because this is not a common occurrence in most maple trees, the wood is more valuable and more sought after due to its decorative look and scarcity. This phenomenal looking piece of Tiger maple has been hand selected for its remarkable wood figuring. Pyrography "BREAD" has been added to this board so that there can be no mistake what its intensions are for. Of course, that is totally up to you once you have it hanging in your kitchen or preferred food preparation location. This board definitely says "Made in Vermont", even if it is not written or burned into this board. The large handle makes handling a breeze. Once that the hand burned pyrography was added, the board was hand sanded again and finished to a very smooth surface then sealed using a food grade mineral oil blend. When the oil has dried to the touch, it is hand rubbed with a single application of Wayne's Wood Originals own "Wood Vigor".
