Additional information
Additional Info | This hand turned Oak Rolling Pin has a bit of an interesting of story behind the wood selection. If you look closely at the wood grain in this rolling pin you may be able to tell that the Oak is quite old. From another century you might say. The rolling pin has been hand turned from a single piece of Reclaimed Oak which came from a building originally built in the late 1800's somewhere in the Northeastern part of the US. Wow, that's pretty awesome! You can definitely see the difference in the grain of the wood from the late 1800's vs an oak tree grown and harvested and milled today. Not to mention that there are markings in the wood that represent how or where it had previously been used in a building structure. These markings or artifacts in the wood give it that special character. Once the rolling pin was turned on the lathe, it was hand sanded to a very smooth finish. Once it has been sanded, it was then sealed using a food grade mineral oil blend. When the oil has dried to the touch, it is hand rubbed with a single application of Wayne's Wood Originals own "Wood Vigor". |
